If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms prior to your arrival,
PLEASE STAY HOME:
If you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please adhere to recommended guidelines for quarantining.
1. What should I do if I have COVID19 symptoms or have been exposed?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know your name, age and what team you are on. We will then inform the coach and find a replacement player from another team if needed.
2. What is Thunder doing to make sure everyone is safe at practices/tournaments?
All coaches wear masks at all times at practices and players are required to wear masks when not on the court. Players are kept with their teams when on the court. Balls are sanitized after each practice. Players are required to sanitize and wear masks each time they step off the court. We have everyone entering and exiting the gym and building a specific way to maintain social distancing. Only players and coaches are allowed in the building during practice. Everyone gets their temperate taken at the door and asked about possible symptoms and if they've been exposed to someone within the last 48 hours.
DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE/TOURNAMENTS IF YOU HAVE SYPTOMS OR HAVE BEEN EXPOSED!
3. Will the 2021 season be cancelled because of COVID19? If so, what will Thunder do?
Unfortunately, nobody knows what 2021 has to bring with COVID19. We are always taking precautions to make sure we can have a season. If it gets cancelled again, we will do everything in our power to see if we can reschedule any tournaments or give refunds.
1. Are all practices at Austintown Middle School (AMS) this year?
Yes. We are not practicing at YSU this year.
2. Will there be weekday practices when tournaments start?
Yes. When everyone starts having tournaments on weekends, we will change practices to weeknights. The schedule will be determined based on the coaches' schedules. The schedules will be posted on the website when the time comes.
1. Are spectators allowed at tournaments? If so, how many?
Spectators are determined by each facility that hosts the tournament based on their capacity/state guidelines. Click the links on your schedule to view each facility's COVID19 guidelines.
2. What time should I arrive at my tournaments? When do they end?
Check the tournament details to see what time the tournament starts. We recommend arriving at the location an hour before playing starts to make sure everyone is ready to play or ref promptly at the start time. Referees will begin early if everyone is present. Tournaments will last until late afternoon or early evening depending on how long each team lasts in bracket play.
3. Does every player have to ref/be at the score table when we are reffing?
YES. When reffing other teams, there is a score tracker, scoreboard flipper, libero tracker and 2 line judges. If you are not one of these people, please be nearby watching the game. It is not fair to other players if you are off somewhere else when your teammates are working.
4. I'm new to club volleyball. How do tournaments work?
Click the links on your schedule to view tournament details. Each court has 4 teams assigned for pool play. Those 4 teams all play each other, then are placed in gold, silver or bronze brackets based on wins and losses. All the teams placed in each bracket play single elimination games until a winner is determined in each bracket.
